Bai Rui Xiang - 2017 Zheng Yan Wuyi Oolong Loose Leaf Tea
Our 2017 Zheng Yan
Bai Rui Xiang Oolong Tea comes from a small, family owned tea garden in the mountains of Wuyi. Called a rock tea, or yancha, because the tea trees grow in the shallow soil atop rock with high mineral content. Called a zheng yan tea because it grows inside the protected Dahongpao Scenic Area. Water flowing down the mountain to the trees brings even more minerals. The high mineral content gives the teas grown there an amazing and unique flavor. Zheng yan teas are the most highly prized rock teas. Bai Rui Xiang means berry aroma and is one of the most popular Wuyi rock teas and is considered a good tea for yancha beginners.
Harvested on May 10th, 2017, this loose leaf rock tea was processed completely by hand except for sorting. It was lightly roasted 1 time over lychee charcoal on June 20, 2017. Lychee charcoal produces no smoke and adds no flavor. Very sweet with floral undertones.
