Bao Zhong High Grade Pouchong Oolong Tea from northern Taiwan is a lightly oxidized, twisted tea with lilac, pear and floral notes. It was hand picked to ensure long, uniform-shaped tea leaves. It is sometimes referred to as flower tea because the smell is so fragrant.
The processed leaf appears as a curled rope. Deep green in color with tiny grayish-white spots.
This tea brews a lovely jade colored tincture with sweet and delicate flavors of lilac, pear and fresh green tea.
Taiwanese farmers imported trees and techniques in the nineteenth century and pouchong production began around 1885, but very little is grown today. Pouchong means "wrapped" as this tea was once wrapped in paper while drying.
Our premium loose leaf Bao Zhong High Grade Pouchong Oolong Tea can be steeped several times. Some consider the third and fourth steepings to be the best.
