According to legend, the ancient Chinese believed the heavens were shaped like an upturned bowl with stars painted inside. Tea, with it's sweet earthly flavor and uplifting character came to be associated with the Earth itself. The tea makers were spiritual and began pressing the tea into the bowl shape of the heavens. The tea eventually came to signify the oneness of the universe.
