Green tea grown in Yunnan, China, pressed into bowl shapes, Toucha generally improves with age which means that, like tea bricks, the tea traveled exceptionally well and was even used as currency along the ancient spice caravan routes of China. Each large piece of this raw (sheng) pu-erh weighs 100g. These bowls are at least 4 years old.
According to legend, the ancient Chinese believed the heavens were shaped like an upturned bowl with stars painted inside. Tea, with it's sweet earthly flavor and uplifting character came to be associated with the Earth itself. The tea makers were spiritual and began pressing the tea into the bowl shape of the heavens. The tea eventually came to signify the oneness of the universe.
Our Large Toucha Pu-Erh Tea can be steeped many times, 20 or more. The flavor profile will change subtly each time.
