LOOSE LEAF ROOIBOS
Rooibos is the leaves of a bush that grows in the Western Cape Provice of South Africa. The leaves are similar in appearance to pine needles. The leaves are dried and cut into short segments. It tastes like honey and roses and has no tannins so will not become bitter.
Rooibos has no calories or caffeine, but contains calcium, potassium, iron, fluoride, copper, magnesium, manganese, zinc and alpha hydroxy acid. It also contains chrysoeriol which has been found to improve blood circulation. The
South African Cancer Association has declared rooibos to contain anti-cancer compounds. It is used as an alternative calcium source for children who are intolerant to dairy.
Green rooibos is processed much like green tea but the process is much more demanding. It has a slightly grassy and malty flavor.
Our selection of rooibos blends contains natural flavorings only, absolutely no artificial flavorings.
