Sowmee White Tea (Shou Mei) has delicious toasty character with body reminiscent of Oolongs and white tea sweetness.
Shou Mei is one of the lower grades of white tea, but despite this it has the properties attributed to white teas. The leaves for Shou Mei are plucked during late April, May and June. The lack of processing and hand selection is evident in the leaf appearance of Shou Mei as it is somewhat mixed and tending flaky and flat. Although made with the byproducts of making Silver Needle tea, Shou Mei has a character all it's own. The large leaves give markedly different flavors at various steep times and temperatures. Definitely a tea worth exploring.
Sowmee White Tea (Shou Mei) demands to be steeped multiple times at 2-5 minutes. Various temperatures are a must to experience all it has to give.
